SBCNC - Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to all Design work, CNC machining, fabrication, and related services provided by SBCNC. By accepting a quote, placing an order, supplying files, and/or approving a job, the client agrees to the below terms.


1. Scope of Work

1.1. Unless explicitly agreed to in writing, SBCNC provides CNC machining services only, strictly in accordance with client-supplied files.

1.2. CAD Review, tolerance development, design modification, design-for-manufacture (DFM), fitment validation, or prototyping are not included unless separately quoted and agreed to in writing.


2. Quotes & Pricing

2.1. Quotes are valid for 14 days from the date of issue.

2.2. All prices are in AUD and exclusive of GST.

2.3. Pricing is based upon information provided at the time of quoting. Any changes in scope, material, quantity, tolerances, or complexity may result in a revised price.

2.4. Pre-quote discussions, comments, or clarifications do not form part of the agreed scope unless explicitly included in the written quote.


3. Payment Terms 

3.1. Standard payment terms are 50% deposit up front and the final 50% upon completion, prior to dispatch or collection.

3.2. Where the cost of the materials exceeds 50% of the total quoted job value, the full material cost must be paid in advance before materials are ordered or work commences.

3.3. SBCNC will not order materials or schedule machining until payment of the material component, or the 50% deposit has been received in cleared funds.

3.4. Ownership of all goods remains the property of until payment is received in full.


4. Lead Times & Delivery

4.1. Lead times are estimates only and may be affected by material availability, design changes, machine availability, or production workload.

4.2. SBCNC is not responsible for delays outside its reasonable control.


5. Client-Supplied files & Design Responsibility

5.1. The client is solely responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and suitability of all supplied CAD files, drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.

5.2. Files are assumed to be manufacturing-ready, unless otherwise stated in writing.

5.3. SBCNC is not liable for issues arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous design information.

5.4. Design and CAD services are available at additional cost if required prior to machining.


6. Tolerance & Fitment

6.1. Unless tolerances are explicitly specified in the supplied files or documentation, parts will be machined to nominal CAD dimensions.

6.2. Any statements such as “use whatever tolerance you need” does not constitute a defined tolerance specification. 

6.3. SBCNC is not responsible for fitment issues caused by :

· Zero-clearance designs

· Undocumented mating parts or assemblies

· Material thickness variations (including plywood, timber, laminates, orr composites)

6.4. Where standard tolerances are required, ±0.25 mm applies unless otherwise agreed to in writing.

6.5. Tighter tolerances must be approved prior to machining and may incur additional cost.


7. Samples, References & Prior Work

7.1. Any physical samples, photos, drawings, or reference parts must be supplied before machining commences.

7.2. References provided after machining has started or completed cannot be incorporated and do not constitute grounds for rework, refund, or non-payment.


8. Materials

8.1. Unless otherwise agreed, materials are supplied by the client.

8.2. SBCNC is not responsible for defects, warping, voids, thickness variations, surface defects, or inconsistencies in client-supplied materials.

8.3. Natural and manufactured sheet goods may vary across a single sheet; this is considered normal and unavoidable.

8.4. Where SBCNC supplies materials, it will be quoted separately and subject to availability.


9. Changes, Revisions, & Rework

9.1. Any changes requested after machining has commenced will be treated as a variation and may incur additional cost. 

9.2. Rework caused by design errors, tolerance issues, or omission in client supplied files will be charged at $50/hr or at prevailing shop rate. 

9.3. SBCNC may, at its discretion, demonstrate fitment on representative parts, but not obligated to rework entire batches without additional compensation.


10. Inspection & Acceptance

10.1. The client must inspect parts upon collection or delivery.

10.2. Any claims must be made within 48 hours of receipt and must be related to machining accuracy relative to supplied files, not design intent or downstream use.


11. Warranty & Limitation of Liability

11.1. SBCNC warrants workmanship to be free of defects for 14 days from collection or delivery.

11.2. SBCNC’s liability is limited to repair or replacement of faulty parts at its discretion.

11.3. SBCNC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including assembly delays, production downtime, or lost profit.


12. Cancellations

12.1. Jobs cancelled after approval may incur fees based on time, programming, and materials already committed.

12.2. Deposits are non-refundable once work has commenced or materials have been committed to.


13. Professional Conduct

13.1. SBCNC reserves the right to refuse or cease work where communication becomes abusive, threatening, or unprofessional.


14. Intellectual Property & Confidentiality

14.1. Client-supplied designs remain the intellectual property of the client.

14.2. SBCNC will treat all client information as confidential unless disclosure is required by law.


15. Force Majure

15.1. SBCNC is not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to supplier delays, power outages, equipment failure, or natural events.


16. Governing Law & Disputes

16.1. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

16.2. Both parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution prior to any legal action.



Acceptance 

Engaging SBCNC to do any work constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
